This site is all about learning how to purchase from eBay and save money in your budget doing it. Before making a bid on an auction, research exactly what you’re bidding on, know who the seller is, and understand how eBay and PayPal can protect you in case it of trouble.
Research your item before you bid…

• Look in your local market and determine how much the item is in your area.
• Be sure to include deliver charges in your bid amount. Does the seller include insurance? If the item is expensive – this would be a wise investment.
• Read the auction details carefully to determine exactly what you are bidding on.
• If you’re not sure what is being offered – contact the seller by clicking on the “ask seller a question” link to get the specific answers you need before you bid.
• Never pay for your winning auctions through instant cash wire services like Western Union or Money Gram. These payments are not covered under eBay buyer protection. PayPal is the safest choice for payments and offers great buyer protection.
• Always purchase through eBay using a bid, buy it now, or best offer button. Purchases made by arrangement outside of eBay are not covered by buyer protection programs either.

Know who the seller is before you bid…

• Is this someone you want to do business with? What is the feedback rating? Is it positive? How many transactions have they completed as a seller?
• What are some of the negative comments? Was it the seller’s fault or the buyers? Sometimes buyer’s can be unreasonable in their expectations.
• What are the positive comments? Do you see a consistent pattern of good seller practices? Does this sound like someone you want to deal with?
• What are the policies of the auction? Are there any special terms and conditions you need to be aware? Do they offer a full money return?

Problems can happen but eBay and PayPal have built-in protection to help you…

• eBay wants you to have a safe and secure transaction. They have developed lots of tips and information for you.
• Visit the eBay Security & Resolution Center to learn how to protect your rights and use the eBay claim tools.
• PayPal offers buyer protection on purchases up to $2,000, sellers do not see your financial information, and you’ll receive 100% protection against unauthorized payments from your account.

Do you want to receive 10%, 20% or more off your eBay purchases? Here’s an easy way to get on the “list” to receive these discount codes (aka redemption codes) directly from eBay.

First, logon to your eBay account. Not a member of eBay? Scroll down to the bottom for more information.

Next, click on the “My eBay” button on the top of the page.

Then click on the “Notification Preferences” link on the left hand side navigation bar, under the “My Account” heading.

The preference you want to set is the very last one titled “Promotions and Surveys.” Click on the “Show” link and you will be shown five subscription options. You want to make sure that the second subscription, “General Email Promotions” and the fourth subscription “Postage Mail Catalogs and Promotions” are checked to receive discount codes.

When you subscribe to “General Email Promotions” you will receive email about what’s new and hot on eBay, along with great deals, special events, discount coupons, and additional special offers. The “Postage Mail Catalogs and Promotions” subscription will put you on the list to mailed (yes, go ole’ U.S. snail mail) catalogs, coupons, seller hotlists, holiday sales planners and newsletters.

If you are an active seller on eBay, I recommend you also subscribe to the “Seller Email Promotions.” This subscription will send you email about seller specials like fee and listing discounts, selling tips and other ways to get started selling or how to get more fro selling on eBay.

Once you’ve checked your subscription boxes be sure to click the “Save” button on the bottom. Be aware, eBay will not give you coupons right away but you WILL receive coupons eventually. You can thank me later.

Registration for eBay is fast, easy and best of all free! CLICK HERE to get started saving money now.

When a seller lists an item for sale on eBay, the eBay directory stores that item by the auction title. If the seller misspells or creates a typo in the auction title, guess what happens… no one can find the auction listing. Right now there are literally 1,000′s of misspelled or typo’ed auction listings on eBay that will either go unsold or for very little money.

BidDetective’s eBay MisSpell Search Engine takes your keyword and then performs a complete search of eBay’s auctions for the various misspellings of your keyword. The results will open a new eBay auction window for you ready to place a bid. You can even filter your search to get exactly the results you want, but more on that in one minute.

Safe, secure, free from spyware and computer viruses, nothing to download or install, and best of all – it’s FREE! BidDetective’s eBay MisSpell Search Engine is also simple to use. Let’s try it right now and I will walk you through the steps to saving money on eBay auctions.
Click here to open the MisSpell Search Engine. Don’t worry; this link will open in a new window so you can continue reading here while performing your search in the new page.

Step 1: The very first open white line (top) is where you will enter your search keywords.

BidDetective's eBay MisSpell Search Engine | this is the search field - enter your keyword here

Step 2: Click on this line with your mouse and type in the correct spelling of your search term. The search engine will return better results for if you only enter one word at time. For my example, I will search for a Sony Playstation.

Step 3: Click the “SEARCH” button located in the bottom left hand corner. That’s it.

Once you click search, a new web page will automatically open from eBay’s safe and secure website displaying all of the misspelled auction bargains ready for you to bid. It always amazes me how many misspelled auctions there are… Can you imagine 124 misspelled playstation games, systems, accessories, etc. at the time of this search. You could even buy these and re-list them correctly to make extra money!

BidDetective's eBay MisSpell Search Engine | here is the results from my playstation search

The eBay MisSpell Search Engine can also perform a narrow targeted search to locate those hard-to-find misspelled auction bargains. Here are some of the specific search options:

If you only want to search for your item – without searching the typos or misspelled eBay listings, then click on the box next to “Without misspell”

Would you like to search an eBay auction site other than the United States? Bid Detective’s eBay MisSpell Search Engine can also search the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium-Fr or Belgium-NL, Hong Kong, or India eBay auctions. It’s easy, just click on the down arrow next to “United States” and move your mouse to select the country site you do want to search.

Similar to eBay’s more advanced search options, you can also decide if you want to limit or filter your search to auctions. Simply click on the box in front of each filter to limit your results.

Choose if you want to limit your search to auctions ending within 1, 2, 5, or 12 hours.
Limit your search to PayPal only auctions.
Expand your eBay MisSpell search to include the auctions’ title and description fields.
Decide if you want to exclude certain words or terms to narrow your results.
Decide if you want to “Include Original Word” in your search results.
You can even set your search criteria to include minimum and maximum Bid Prices or Auction Prices.

After you have set your search filters and you are ready for to perform a misspelled auction search, click on the “SEARCH” button in the lower left-hand corner.

If you have any questions or suggestions with the eBay MisSpell Search Engine, please leave a comment below and I will try to answer all of your questions as soon as possible.
